Korean-American pianist, Chee Hyeon Choi has been featured at the College Music Society, Association of Technology for Music Instruction national conferences, Music Teachers National Association, National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, Gimhae International Music Symposium, and Composers In Asia Symposium, MTNA Group Piano Symposium, MTNA Collegiate Symposium, Central Michigan University, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and University of Akron among others. She was invited to perform at various venues including the Pablo Center at the Confluence, the Central Florida Composers' Forum, the Music by Women International Festival, Illinois Symphony orchestra, the Illinois Chamber Music Festival. and the Carnegie Weil Recital Hall. She also performed as the acting principal keyboardist with the Heartland Festival Orchestra, Decatur-Millikin Symphony Orchestra, Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and Acadiana Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Choi served as the VP-Conferences and President-Elect of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association was awarded the Teacher of the Year award by the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. She served as the coordinator of the UIUC Piano Laboratory Coordinator and was the Assistant Professor at Bradley University.
Dr. Choi currently is the Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the chair of the college faculty at Louisiana State Teachers Association and program committee for Lafayette Area Music Teachers association. Also she has been serving as a committee for the Goula Piano Concert Series with Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, and for the UL School of Music concert series.
Dr. Choi earned her Bachelor's degree in Piano from Kyung Hee University in South Korea. She holds a Master’s degree in piano pedagogy and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano and Piano Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
